GCSE Results Press Release 2024

GCSE Results Press Release St Mark’s West Essex Catholic School celebrated exceptionally good GCSE results with great achievements across the whole year group. There were celebrations as students received their results this morning and began enrolling on the next stage of study, training or employment. Headteacher John Taylor said “These are another strong set of results, especially given the context of recent years and the return to 2019 standards. Coming off the back of solid A Levels last week, it has been a very good fortnight for our school community. I am so proud of these young people and of their achievements. Year on year, they and their teachers, turn out these performances and they deserve this success. Having met this vital milestone, they have many options and most of these young people will be with us in the Sixth Form where they will achieve even more”. Some notable achievements included: Oliwia Wojtowicz, who achieved a total of 9 Grades 7-9 Oliwia, who will be studying A Levels in science, said “I am really happy with these results and so pleased to have achieved such high grades especially in Science. I am looking forward to the Sixth Form” Esther Oyerinde achieved 10 GCSEs at grade 7 – 9 and this included 6 grade 9s. “I was very pleased with the results, particularly Maths. Teachers are so supportive and always recommending resources, new ways to study." Highlights of Key Stage 4 were the trips, especially the Barcelona and geography field trips as well as Berlin. She is going on to do Biology, Chemistry and Psychology Ben Casey achieved 10 grades 9-7 and was especially pleased with his results. "The teachers were very supportive, they gave up time outside of lessons to help us." When asked about the highlight of the last few years, Ben said it was Design Technology. "It was a very productive, enjoyable time." Seyi Olateru achieved 8 GCSEs at grade 9-7 was equally delighted with results. He said, “I am very happy after years of hard work and I would like to thank my teachers”. Harrish Muraleedharan achieved 8 GCSEs graded 7 to 9 and described himself as “Really pleased with my grades and next year I will be studying Maths, further Maths, Business Studies and Economics”. Kirsty-Jane Lamacraft achieved 7 GCSEs at grades 7 to 9 and said “I am so pleased, all my efforts have paid off. I was quite anxious during the exam period so get these results is great. Next year I am staying in the Sixth Form, and I am so pleased to do so. I know my teachers and have a good relationship with them, and I am looking forward to studying History, German, Theology and Health & Social Care”.” Eva Aldous garnered 10 GCSEs at grades 7 to 9 and was delighted with her results Eva said “My hard work has paid off and the help from my teachers, who have supported me throughout my whole secondary school has been excellent. Next year I will study PE, History, English Literature and Sociology”. Bella Kilvington achieved 10 GCSEs at grades 5-9 and said “I am proud of myself and the work that I put in. I am looking forward to starting the Sixth Form” Louis Rolland achieved an exceptional 9 GCSEs at grade 7 to 9 including 6 grade 9. Louis said “I’ve really enjoyed my time at St Mark’s. I want to thank all my teachers for establishing a great and caring connection with me, which has allowed me to achieve results better than I could have dreamed of. Thank you to everyone who made my journey at St Mark’s so amazing” Ben Reji was celebrating great success. Having only moved to the UK and joined the school at the start of Year 11 he completed two years of work in a little over two terms and gained 9 GCSEs. Commenting on his success Ben Said, “I am really pleased with what I have achieved and I am looking forward to the Sixth Form where I will be studying Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics and in the future I want to study medicine”.

A Level Results Press Release 2024

St Mark’s celebrate another excellent A Level results day. It has been another strong of results for students at St Mark’s with some fantastic individual achievements. Students were delighted with their outcomes and nearly all have secured their first university choices or have met the conditions required for Degree Apprenticeships, employment or other apprenticeships and training. Headteacher John Taylor said “I am so delighted for everyone involved in the outcomes today. These results reflect the hard work of the young people, the support of their families and the dedication of their teachers. I could not be more pleased for them and, as ever, it has been an absolute privilege to share their journey. We look forward to hearing of what they achieve in the future”. Mohaned Beshaya (A*A*A) Mohaned achieved his grades in Maths, Biology and Chemistry. He is waiting for confirmation on his first choice of medical school. Mohaned said “I am very happy, I put a lot of hard work in and it paid off”. Holli Battelley A*AA) Holli achieved fantastic grades in Psychology, Sociology and Law. She has secured a place at the University of Surrey to read Law with Criminology. Reacting to her results Holli thanked her teachers and said “I am so shocked; all my hard work has paid off and it was worth it. A Levels are the hardest thing I have done but the rewards are amazing”. Tamsin Lee (A*AB) Tamsin gained some excellent results in Politics, History and English Literature that have enabled her to go to the University of Durham to read Politics. A delighted Tamsin said “these results don’t feel real, but they are the result of lots of hard work. I am so grateful for the help I had in this school”. Rebekah Pike (AAA) Rebekah achieved exceptionally good grades in German, History and Theology. A delighted Rebekah has secured a place at the University of Leeds to read History. Commenting on her achievements Rebekah said “I am over the moon, I am so happy with my results and really looking forward to university”. Polina Halinauskas (ABC) Polina achieved three very good grades in Psychology, Biology and Chemistry and has secured a place at the University of Cardiff to read Dental Technology. Polina said “I am really pleased with my results and pleased to be in university. My advice to everyone doing A Levels is work hard and start early”. Alicia Mphumhira (ABB) Alicia achieved her excellent grades in Sociology, Psychology and Theology. Next year she will be reading Business with HR at the University of Leeds. Alicia said “I am overwhelmed and so happy with my results. I worked hard for them and was supported so well”. McKenzie Russell (BBC) McKenzie achieved his grades in Product Design, Economics and Geography. He is looking forward to reading Economics at the University of Essex next year. McKenzie said that he was “pleased with his results and excited about university” Jorens Rakis (AAB) Jorens shone with his results and has secured a place at Univesity College London to read Geography Jorens achieved his grades in Product Design, German and Geography. Reflecting on his results Jorens had this to say “I am really pleased with my results and I am looking forward to pushing on. I am excited to read Geography at university. I enjoyed my time at St Mark’s and was proud to be the Head Boy. Everyone should be proud today, A Levels are tough and well done to everyone. I would like to thank the school for 7 years of support”. Bliss Webber (BBC) Head Girl Bliss achieved her grades in German, Law and Economics and has secured a Degree Apprenticeship with Rolls Royce based in Bristol. It was a highly competitive process and Bliss said “I am so excited and so grateful for all the help I had here”.

A Level Results Press Release 2023

St Mark’s celebrate another excellent A Level results day. A Level results were again strong at St Mark’s with extremely good performances from the whole cohort. There were smiles, laughter and tears of joy as students received their results. The vast majority of students were placed at their first choice of university with others securing insurance places. Retiring Headteacher Elaine Heaphy said, I am delighted to see so many of our students so happy today. This day is always special, the culmination of so much work as I watch the future vets, doctors, lawyers, engineers, teachers and businesspeople walk out with their results. They have been a credit to the school and to their parents. They have been supported by some exceptional and inspirational teachers and to see the outcome of collective efforts like this is so affirming”. Chloe Cheung (AAB) Chloe achieved grades AAB and has secured a place at Queen Mary University to read Marketing and Management. Chloe said she is delighted. “The last few days have been stressful waiting for the results. But this shows that if you put the effort in you get the results”. Alex George (A*AB) Alex is going to the University of Southampton to Read Economics and Data Science. Alex said “I am really happy that I got these results, and they allow me to get to university. I am excited to go to university and excited for my future”. Sarah Gillman (Distinction Star AA) Sarah achieved a Distinction Star and 2 A Grades and will be going to the University of Hertfordshire to read for a degree in Education. Sarah said “I am really pleased with my results, and I have had some really supportive teachers who went above and beyond for me. I am so grateful”. Hannah Hopkins (A*A*A) Hannah achieved 2 A* grades and 1 A and has secured a place at the Royal Veterinary College. Hannah has worked exceptionally hard to get where she is and managed her studies alongside her role of Head Girl. Hannah said “I am really happy with my results, and I could not have done this without my teachers. I am really looking forward to starting my career”. Isaac Parker (AAB) Isaac achieved grades AAB and will be going to the University of Loughborough to read Business Management. Isaac said “I am so grateful for the chances I was given at St Mark’s and really pleased with my results. I would like to thank my teachers for everything they have done for me”. Hannah Pragg (Distinction Star BB) Hannah achieved a Distinction Star and 2 B grades and has secured a place at the University of Lincoln to read Psychology. Hannah said “I am absolutely thrilled at my results and can’t believe that I am going to university. I am so excited for the future”. Wiktoria Siemiginowska (AAB) Wiktoria achieved grades AAB and has secured a place at the University of Surrey to read Biological Sciences. Wiktoria was thrilled with her results and said “I am extremely grateful for the education and opportunities I have received at St Mark’s. I am able to fulfil my ambition of studying at university and I am so pleased”. Oliver Miziolek (AAB) Oliver achieved grades AAB and will be going to the University of Surrey to read for a degree in Maths. Oliver was delighted with his results and said, “St Mark’s is an excellent school, teachers always give you a lot of support and are always there for you”. Rosie Dollard (ABB) Rosie achieved grades AAB and will be reading Primary Education at the University of Hertfordshire. Rosie said “I am really pleased with my results. I got much more than I needed, and I am very happy. I have had lots of support from the school, and I am so pleased with the education I have received”. Luke Richardson (BC a) Luke achieved B and C at A Level with an A Grade at AS Level. Luke said, “No matter what obstacles you face you can pull through”. Luke is going to the University of Hertfordshire to read International Business. Phoebe Taylor (BBB) Phoebe achieved grades BBB and has secured a place at the University of Bristol to read English Literature. Phoebe said, “I am excited to go to Bristol and I really appreciate all the help and support I have received”.

GCSE Results Press Release 2023

GCSE results Summer 2023 St Mark’s is delighted to be celebrating a great set of results by its pupils in their GCSEs with the return 2019 standards this summer. We are incredibly proud of all our pupils who have put in so much hard work during the last few years. We can see that our pupils have made great progress since joining the school with many pupils achieving top grades in the 9 - 7 range across all subjects in the school. The exam outcomes are very strong and compare favourably with the last time, we had exams. And despite the challenges of covid and missed learning pupils have done very well Elaine Heaphy, the headteacher said: “It was a delight to celebrate their results with them in person today. We are immensely proud of all the work and achievements of our pupils. Our teachers have worked tirelessly to ensure our pupils are all able to progress onto the next stage of their education. As a school, in partnership with parents, we have done everything we possibly could have to support our pupils. My congratulations to the pupils, their parents, and staff.”  There were many examples of outstanding individual performances with most pupils not only achieving their target grades but a number exceeding them. Press Release GCSE Results 2022

GCSE Results Press Release St Mark’s West Essex Catholic School celebrated another successful year of GCSE results with some exceptional performances across the board. Despite all the difficulties and uncertainties of the past 2 years, students taking the first public examinations since 2019 have acquitted themselves well. Some notable achievements included: Joe Thomas, who achieved a total of 9 Grade 9s and 1 Grade 8. Joe, who will be studying A Levels in science, said “I am genuinely happy with my results. It has been a tough two years for everyone, and I am really thankful to the school. I am now embarking on my A Levels and in the future, I hope to study Medicine or Veterinary Medicine. Jinthiya Kalaiselvan achieved 10 grades 8 to 9. Jinthiya, who will be staying in the Sixth Form at St Mark’s to study A Levels in Economics, Psychology, Geography and Maths, said “I am really happy with my results. It’s what I have dreamed of and what I have been working for since Year 7. I am really grateful to the school and to my teachers. In the future I want to read Economics at university and work in investment analysis”. Rebekah Pike achieved 10 GCSEs at grade 7 – 9 and this included 6 grade 9s. Rebekah, who will be staying in the Sixth Form at St Mark’s to study A Levels in German, Theology, English Literature and History, said “I am shocked, surprised and happy with my results. The teachers here have been amazing all through lockdown and since we returned to school. I am really looking forward to the Sixth Form”. Rebekah has just returned from 2 weeks in Zanzibar where she volunteered to teach in a school. Earlier in the year she also received a Jack Petchey Award for her voluntary work with St John’s ambulance. Future success for Rebekah looks certain. Jorens Rakiss achieved 10 grades 9-7 and was especially pleased with his results. Jorens said “I am over the moon with my results, the hard work and determination paid off. I learned that the biggest hurdle is getting started. Once you’re in the groove work is easier”. Jorens,, will study A Levels in Geography, German, Maths and Product Design, wishes to read Architecture after doing his A Levels at St Mark’s. Polna Halinauskas achieved 10 GCSEs at grade 9-7 was equally delighted with her results. She said “Last night I was so worried but my brother and family told me not to be. I am so grateful for the support of my family. The support from staff at St Mark’s has been equally amazing. The teachers are so organised and do so much to help”. Polina will be studying A Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics Ilaye Ozomoru achieved 10 subjects graded 7 to 9 and described herself as “really happy with these results. I found the exams stressful, but my teachers and my friends were so helpful and supportive”. Ilaye will be studying A Levels in Psychology, Sociology and Politics. Headteacher Elaine Heaphy said: “Under the difficult circumstances of the last 2 years, these results are a great achievement for the students and staff at our school. There are so many individual stories and so many successes and so much for students to be proud of. Everyone in the school has worked hard to make these results happen and I am so proud of what they represent. Coming on the back of some exceptionally good A Levels last week, it has been a very good two weeks for us all. I look forward to welcoming these students into our Sixth Form next week.

School Rebuilding Programme

Press Release St Mark’s West Essex Catholic School prioritised for the government’s flagship School Rebuilding Programme St Mark’s to have one or more of its buildings replaced or refurbished. New buildings will be energy efficient designs with high sustainability standards, and will be net zero in operation offering excellent facilities. Transforming the learning environment and supporting teachers to deliver a high-quality education, so that pupils gain the knowledge, skills and qualifications they need to succeed. School and local community to be prioritised throughout the process St Mark’s West Essex Catholic School has today 12 July 2022 been named as one of the schools prioritised for the School Rebuilding Programme. The Department for Education will start a project to replace or refurbish one or more buildings at the school, as appropriate, setting the school up for high educational standards for all its pupils for decades to come. As a school we will work with the Department for Education to agree the educational design of the project and the timeframe for delivery. Over the course of the work, we will ensure that pupils’ learning will not be affected. Currently the programme will focus on rebuilding our Technology Block. As a school, we are absolutely delighted to be given this opportunity to enhance and update our environment to support the amazing work of our pupils and staff. Across the School Rebuilding Programme, the rebuilds and refurbishments will create modern education environments, providing new facilities from classrooms and science labs, to sports halls and dining rooms. The new school buildings will also be net-zero carbon in operation, helping meet the government’s net zero target. The programme is due to deliver 500 rebuilding projects over the next decade, which will benefit tens of thousands of pupils over their lifetime. St Mark’s is part of an announcement of 61 new projects, including primary, secondary and special schools, levelling up opportunities across the entire country. Education Secretary James Cleverly said: “Our School Rebuilding Programme is already making a difference to the lives of pupils and their teachers. It is creating greener school sites that are fit for the future and that local communities can be proud of.              “We know how important it is to have high-quality school facilities. That is why we continue to invest billions in our rebuilding programme.”
